There’s really nothing like a grilled dessert is there? And there’s nothing better after a few margaritas, grilled ribs or chicken wings than ice cream. So why not combine the two? These grilled peaches are excellent and will have anyone with a taste of them coming back for more.
It’s important to use peaches that are ripe and in-season. When selecting peaches, make sure to choose those that are not too mushy or too brown. The perfect dessert is only as good as its ingredients so make sure to pick the best peaches that you can get your hands on.
You can choose any flavor of ice cream that you like for this recipe. We chose vanilla to keep it simple, but hazelnut, pistachio and peach of course make for good alternatives if no vanilla is handy. (Sorry chocolate, for once you’re not a first-choice!)
Instructions
Start the grill with your usual method and let it get up to temperature. There doesn’t need to be too many coals for this recipe since the peaches will cook pretty quickly. While the grill is firing up, select and wash your peaches.
Slice the peach in half lengthwise and remove the pit. Then slice each half lengthwise into several slices about 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch thick. Sprinkle both sides of the slices with some brown sugar (light or dark will d0) making sure to coat both sides evenly. At this time you can also add any other spices that you might like such as cinnamon or ground nutmeg.
Place the slices of peach on the grill and let cook for about 6 minutes each side. The time will vary based on how much coal you have lit but 6 minutes should be about right. Once done, peaches should be soft but not too mushy.
Serve the peaches on the plate and top with ice cream of your choice. Sprinkle any leftover brown sugar on top of the treat to add some pizazz.
Grilled Peaches with Ice Cream
A simple dessert great for summer time.
Ingredients
- 1 Ripe peach
- 1.5 tbsp Brown sugar
- Ice cream (flavor of your choice)
Directions
- Step 1 Preheat grill
- Step 2 Wash and slice peaches making sure to remove the pit
- Step 3 Coat both sides of peach slices with brown sugar
- Step 4 Cook on grill for about 6 minutes per side
- Step 5 Remove peaches from grill and plate
- Step 6 Top with ice cream and brown sugar
